Brian is a manager of MIS at Servicelink, a division of Fidelity National Financial. Brian has extensive experience in managing financial processes and applications in financial service industry.
In Aug 2005 Servicelink was purchased by Fidelity National Financial and in 2007 Servicelink acquired ATM Corporation of America. With growth, Servicelink experienced predictable information challenges like diverse information systems, integrated information needs, ‘multiple versions of truth’ etc. Some groups were spending nearly 8-10 hours a week sourcing the right information and in some cases it meant staying overtime and over the weekend to get the information.
Brian started the process by cataloging the business needs, setting the right expectations, objectively investigated the technologies for scalability, usability and flexibility and shortest take-off time. Brian’s team started with a pilot project within Datavibes environment and with users being given a browser based access to BI application. Application results were promising enough to prompt Servicelink to deploy the applications in-house and build several extensions of the same.
In one business unit where is used to tale 10-12 hours to just collect information, now they are getting seconds; clients love that Servicelink can now show them information in visually rich and meaningful way.
A common refrain in Datavibes is that the worst case scenario in a good BI delivery is that more users want in. Brian has been able to accomplish this at ServiceLink, an ever increasing community of users is demanding the applications. “…but then, that is a good problem to have. It tells me that we are delivering to the promise” he said.
